What Makes Cornerstone Special?
At Cornerstone, our church is its people. For nearly 100 years, we have opened our doors to those that are in need and who desire to give their heart and life to God. We pray and learn together. Cornerstone is a place where we worship and can be one with God and one another. No matter what age, a wide array of ministries, programs and services are offered to help you grow in your walk with God. Our Church offers more than what is listed on the website. The best way to experience God and to understand who we are and what we believe in is to stop by for a visit. Whether you choose to join us during Sunday morning worship service or mid-week Prayer meeting you will be greeted with open arms and invitation to experience the love of Jesus Christ.
What can I expect when I attend Cornerstone?
When you enter the doors of our church, you will be greeted with a smile by an usher, a member or the Pastor's wife and children. We want you to feel welcomed. If you prefer a more contemporary worship experience, you may join us at 8:30 am. For a more traditional style (choir, hymns, organ, orchestra, Sunday best), we invite you to our 11:15 am service. What will my kids do?
At Cornerstone, we take great care in providing quality worship programming for our children, youth and teens. We strive to create environments that are both safe and celebratory of the child’s age and stage of life. Children are always welcome in worship. We also provide a nursery for children ages birth to 4 years old on Sunday mornings. Children’s Church, our Sunday morning program for children from age 2 through grade 5, runs each Sunday morning. When you visit, your younger children in the nursery, can also visit your older children next door in Children’s Church.
Our teachers and staff undergo background checks and regular training and equipping to ensure that the very best care is being provided for the children at all times. We love what we do and the children we get to work with Nursery care is provided for children birth - 2 years of age at Sunday worship services. Age-specific programming for older children (2 years and up) is available allowing the children to enjoy music, story time, teaching, play and small group discussion (where age-appropriate). For our teens, we offer Friday Nite Fire. For more information on programming for certain ages, please click the links below.
How do I become a member of Cornerstone?
Becoming a member of Cornerstone is simple. Confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, and you will be saved. Romans 9:10.
At the end of worship service, the Pastor extends an invitation to come forward if God is speaking to your heart. The Pastor or a Deacon will counsel you further about your decision and will arrange new membership classes to prepare you for the right hand of fellowship. There are three ways to join the Baptist Church:
1. Candidate for Baptism
Baptism is full immersion under water, symbolizing the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Baptismal service is held the third Sunday in each month in the Sanctuary. This is the first public act to confess your faith in Jesus Christ.
2. By Letter
If you are a member of another Baptist church or like faith and order, you can request a letter of recommendation from your church home. Cornerstone will accept you under the “watch care” of the church until the letter of recommendation is received.
3. By Christian Experience
If you have been baptized, but are not currently a part of a Baptist Church family you can speak with the Pastor to let him know that you are coming by statement. Upon receiving an affirmative vote by the members of the Church you will receive the right hand of fellowship and be entitled to the full rights and privileges of membership.
How do I get involved?
There are many ways to get involved. Here are four of them: 1) Come to a worship service on Sunday. 2) Look into joining a Ministry or Committee, and get to know some great people. 3) Come to Bible Study on Tuesday afternoon or Thursday evening along with our prayer service. 4) Find a Serve or Mission opportunity, Here, Near or Far.
