In Joshua chapters 7 & 8, the man Joshua is an excellent example of godly leadership. Joshua was a man surrendered to the Lord, and therefore He led God's people to success in conquering the promised land.
Lifestyle Application - I desire to follow the leadership model set forth by Joshua... hearing from God, meeting with God, leading the people from among them, and fervently worshipping the Lord.
- A leader hears from God - Throughout these chapters, I find the phrase over and over again.... "The Lord said to Joshua...." An effective leader must hear the voice of God above all the voices that are spoken to him.
- A leader meets with God - another phrase that is found is... "Joshua got up early the next morning...." He had an early communing with the Lord, obviously in prayer and devotion.
- A leader is among the people - 8:9,10 - "he spend that night with the troops... Joshua started early the next morning and mobilized them.... he led the troops to Ai."
- A leader worships God publicly and leads the people to worship God - 8:20 - "Joshua built an altar on Mount Ebal to the Lord...."
